TED.com

Well, I have to say that this is not the first time that I read hear about TED, the last time I read about it was in a magazine but the first time I knew about TED was in an ecodisign class, when Isabel talks about an investigation that shows the increase of population around the world with an interesting graphic that used bubbles with different colors and this bubbles moving in directions that shows the relation between economic situation and population along the time.

Because I know that, it's not surprising to me the speech about the creativity and how the school kills that. But I am agree with Ken Robinson, because I felt the same thing that he talks when I was in school; teachers doing things that no values your work, but after all in school is where you learn to do the things with a system that join the different ways to do things, maybe it's difficult to us understand and think in other way to change the actual situation.

I don't know how to do this, but maybe people like Ken Robinson can think in a better way.

My favourite piece of technology

I think my favourite piece of technology it's the computer.
I remember that I used a computer since the year 1995, this computer was in my home 10 years a gift for my big sister in this Christmas).
I use it almost every day.
I like it because it's a tool that mix entertainment, work, learning, communication, etc. You can use different programs, like 3dstudio, Autocad, SolidWorks, paint or programs to see videos. I like it more than other pieces of technology, because I can increase the memory or change parts of my computer, and I don't have to change all the machine, for fulfil my requirements and not be obsolete. If you use a lap top in 1 or 2 years the computer going to be out. Maybe other positive point it's that I have less possibilities for use this type of computer, and then I have much more time to do other things (for some people this machines are a vicious).

The life without computers would be different, but I don't know if it's would be better or worst, but maybe the communications -if we don't have other ways to replace it- would be worst, sad and slowly.

Victory City: the city of the future

Victory city’s website shows an urban project trying to propose a complete idea for a “perfect” system of life, including food, money system, residential, politics, etc. You can see in the web so many things; all focus in a new system of life taking knowledge from many places, including actual standards, but thinking in a pessimistic future, but to long time after.

The web shows the history of the idea and makes an invitation for all the people who visit the page for participate in the creation for the project, and provide an e-mail to contact them.

Like a student of industrial design, this project is so ambitious, but a question appears in my mind: - how they going to do this? What type of materials? How this city will be pay?

I saw pictures and sketches, but at this point is only an idea, less than project.

This project it’s not a solution for the actual problems, maybe not in the next 10 years.

Like people, I say that this city it’s not going to work, because the people needs a motor for life, an ideological motivation, and the people actually wouldn’t leave those houses following a crazy idea like that if they are not convince of the behind idea or if they not have security of the results.

I wouldn’t live in a place like that, because my life style and other things make my feel uncomfortable with that situation.

For now, victory city is only a good idea with many things to fix

Natalie's Life Map

Well, during a past class I talk with Natalie, and here is her Life Map:
She loves to stay in her Mom’s Bedroom and jump in the bed of her mom; I remember she told me that her childhood was so amazing to her.

She said that she saw OVNI’s in Cartagena, and it wasn’t the first time she saw things like that, but this time was special because she and some friends saw the same.

She studies industrial design and now she is in the four year of this career. She wants to finish this, but before that she expect to study in other place, I think San Luis de Potosí, México.

About travels, she does that, and knows Bolivia.

She has a boyfriend called Álvaro, who have green eyes…

I forgot so many things, but I can say that she is a very nice people and it’s interesting to know someone who lives the life looking everything like this was the first time. All the things are surprising.

Maybe it’s only my impression but that’s it!

Web Site

When I started to think about which is my favorite web site I couldn't think in one... but now, maybe can be Gmail... Why? Because using Gmail I can talk with friends who are in other countries and know what happen with them...

I knew this site in 2005, in the beginning of my studies in the University of Chile. It was in a computing class, when the teacher says to us that we have to use it, because in those years there were not other e-mails with 1GB.

I think my friend, Beatriz, give me an invitation... well this remembers me that then was the first time I used Photoshop -before to start Design, I didn't know to use even Power Point, jajaja

I review my gmail almost everyday, but sometimes I forget, because I feel boring when I see a PC (PC=work=stress=not sleep).

So, in the context of interface, it's too easy to use it, and I like the way to search mails (thinking in the number of mails saved); and other thing I like is the way to order mails, leaving the mail you send with the answers in the top when it happens, etc.

At the end:
